“A smiling face is the mirror of our body and can heal sick
patients” – Last March I came here for check-up. I was then referred to Dr.
Espinosa so I went to his clinic. He sent me back here for EEG. The staff
downstairs at the front office did the EEG for me right away so I had the time
to go back to Dr. Espinosa who interpreted the result. It was done so fast that
we had the time to go back to Ilocos that same day. I thank the staff very much.
To Lorma as a whole, thank you so much and may God bless you all. All the staff
and employees of Lorma Hospital are very friendly. I’m very glad to see their
smiling faces every morning.
Keep up your good work!!!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION UPON ENTERING THE HOSPITAL
The admitting officer will register your name and other details before
calling your doctor, except in an emergency. If you were previously confined at
Lorma Medical Center, you can help by giving the approximate date of your last
confinement or by presenting your Golden Health Card. (If you do not have such a
card please request it from the Billing Office upon discharge). If you are too
ill to give the necessary information, a member of your family may register for
you. The party responsible for your hospitalization will be asked to sign for
you. Your consent for hospital care, for operation, or for other procedures will
be taken. If you are unable to sign or if you are of minor age your parents or
guardian will be asked to sign for you.
The questions you will be asked regarding your family and social status are
necessary for vital records. This; together with your subsequent chart, is
carefully preserved in the Medical Records Section arid it may be of importance
for future hospital care.
I/We are told that God is a very great help in times of trouble. We can
accept or refuse His help. We may drift with the winds of adversity or make use
of His power.

completion of routine and otlier required laboratory procedures, it is advisable
to come during daytime -between 8 A.M. -6 P.M. for cases that are not emergency
in nature.
A doctor was collared by an elderly woman and had to listen to a kilometric
account of complaints plus a string of juicy gossip tales. She stopped with
another blah on the tip ofher tongue to realize: "A miracle, Doc! Sincel'm
talking to you, I lost my headache!" I/Yeah, " moaned the Doc "But now I've got
it!"

MEDICARE
Lorma Medical Center is an active participant m the Medicare Program. We have
special Medicare clerks on duty during the daytime hours to answer any
questions.
When your admission to the hospital is not an emergency, please try to bring
with you the Medicare form provided by your employer. In that way, you will be
asked to pay only for hospital charges that exceed the Medicare allowances. The
purpose of theMedicare Program is to help you pay your hospital bills. It will
not fully cover the entire cost of hospitalization, especially in the case of
serious illness.
SELECTION OF YOUR ROOM
We have private rooms of different prices and wards at lower rates. In the
wards, your bed will be assigned according to your illness. The admitting
officer or your nurse can tell you the schedule of rates. Like most hospitals
Lorma charges a minimum of one day even if the stay is shorter than 24 hours.
Certain charges such as surgical and operating room costs vary according to the
class of room selected. If a patient chooses a lower priced room, but changes to
a more expensive room subsequent to an operation, then the pertinent charges
also will be adjusted to correspond with the rate prevailing for the higher
priced room.
Room accommodations to suit individual requirements are present. These include
deluxe air-conditioned suites, air- conditioned rooms with private rooms with or
without bath, general wards, isolation private rooms, and an intensive care
unit.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS
It is expensive to provide hospital care for a patient. We have to buy
medicines, food, and modern equipment and instruments for more efficient and
accurate diagnosis and treatment. Most of these items are imported and paid for
in dollars. The laundry of the linen you use has to be paid for. We need funds
for hospital supplies, building maintenance, repair and construction; we pay
electric and water bills, taxes and other fees. The hospital payroll takes a
large part of the hospital income. This is all because we want to give you the
best medical care.
If you find our rates a little expensive, you can be sure that it is because
you are getting better service here. More people attend to you here who are
ready to run to your side and help you at a moment's notice (just by pressing
your call switch). We have specialists on our regular staff to attend to you in
addition to our resident doctors. More highly complicated apparatus and
instruments are available at Lorma, so that we can improve your prospects for a
speedy recovery.
Your company may .have arrangements with Lorma Medical Center regarding its
employees’ hospitalization and medical care. Please inform and/or inquire from
your admitting personnel the extent of your medical coverage and benefits. There
are special packages we offer.
We would, therefore, greatly appreciate a payment for services already
rendered as soon as you can after admission. You may give this to the cashier’s
office. During your stay we shall ask you to give certain payments, depending
upon your illness and upon the cost of medicines and other materials you use.
This way it will be easier for you to pay your total bill. The hospital’s
computerized billing system can give you an up-to-date balance at any time
between 8AM and 5 PM. If your stay is short and your bill seems high that is
because the cost of the laboratory, X-Ray, and medicines are prescribed early in
your confinement.
To ensure the potency and quality medicines, the hospital purchases them
directly from the manufacturer. Since the hospital cannot guarantee the safety
and efficacy of medications acquired by others, it will not administer any
medication not supplied by the hospital pharmacy. We use only the best available
medicines and while they are expensive they help you along to a rapid recovery.
Our statistics show that the average length of stay at Lorma is much shorter
than at most hospitals. Thus, while the cost per day might seem high, the total
cost of hospitalization is reasonable at today’s prices. We require patients to
pay their bills I full before discharge. If you require charity discounts you
must inform the billing office upon admission.
