Minimal Access Surgery/Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopy a surgical procedure in which a fiber-optic instrument is inserted through the abdominal wall to view the organs in the abdomen or to permit a surgical procedure.
This is a major abdominal surgery with reduced pain and discomfort, using small incisions with special tools and video camera which shows the operation on a TV screen. The patient’s post operative discomfort is greatly reduced and hospital confinement for gall bladder surgery drops to only 1 day from the usual 5 –7 days.
